Upon receiving a bouquet, start by trimming the stems diagonally with a sharp knife or shears, removing any leaves that would be submerged in water. Fill a clean vase with room temperature water and dissolve a packet of floral preservative in it. Arrange the flowers in the vase, ensuring each stem is fully submerged. Keep the bouquet away from direct sunlight, drafts, and ripening fruits that release ethylene, as it accelerates aging. Regularly change the water, recut the stems, and remove any wilted or rotting blossoms to maintain freshness.
